INTERVIEWS › Helena Kadlcikova
Helena Kadlcikova is a very talented artist. She
creates beautiful paintings, photography, decorations
and she also writes poetry. Read along and get to
know her better.
Lei: Your work is absolutely beautiful.
What tools do you use to create your art?
Helena: For many years I was working with acrylic
paints but recently I have skipped to oils. Oils
are much more suitable for portrait work in my opinion
for its layers, textures and transparency. And I
absolutely adore oils, I love it.
Lei: You have had the pleasure
of meeting Michael Jackson and presenting him with
a painting. What was that experience like?
Helena: I was lucky enough to meet with Michael
a couple of times and present him my work. The experience
itself is always very nice. Because Michael is the
kind of guy who boosts your ego, who tells you that
you can make a painting as a great painter and with
that he pushes you to create even better because
he simply tells you that you CAN do it.
He encourages you to create better. And this is
Michael Jackson we're talking about...the man that
can have any painting in the world....so the pressure
on you is enormous....and it pays off in the end.
Lei: Outside of Michael Jackson
art, what or who else do you like to paint/draw?
Helena: I love to do portrait work, to paint eyes,
muscles, shades. Landscapes don't give me so much
pleasure as portrait work. But if we talk about
the actual subject then right now its angels, cherubs,
paintings that have beauty and spell, magic. There's
so much horrible things going on in the world so
I want people to feel peace and beauty when they
look at my artwork. I also want people to enjoy
them, to get lost in them and forget the reality.
Lei: You're also a poet. Thinking of publishing
a book of your work?
Helena: Oh no, I don't really consider myself a
poet. It's more like an addition to my painting.
When I don't filter all my emotions through a painting
then I start to write. I need to ventilate my feelings
at times and poetry is a good medium for that.
Lei: Are you working on anything
special right now?
Helena: I've been literally painting all year, even
on Christmas Day so right now, I'll take about a
week or two off of painting and then I will start
to work on a reproduction of Emile Munier's Le Sauvetage
(The Rescue). It’s a true masterpiece, but
in my opinion not very well known. Munier was a
student of William Bouguereau and I think it should
speak for itself.
But I guess you would rather hear about my future
work of Michael. I plan to paint something huge,
detailed, and complex of Michael, I have the idea,
a rough concept in my head already but it will take
some time to finalize the whole concept and then
paint it. I don't think I will finish it before
summer time but who knows, it's too early to tell.
Lei: What can we do and see at
helenakadlcikova.com?
Helena: Well, basically it's a portfolio of my work
with oil and acrylic paintings, drawings, graphics,
poetry, decorations and photography.
There is a huge section of Michael's artwork on
my website and I hope you'll enjoy it. In the future
I think the oil paintings and photography sections
will grow the most on my website.
Thank you for this interview,
Helena Kadlcikova
Thank you Helena and
we wish you all the success in the world! Keep blessing
Michael and the fans with your talent.

INTERVIEWS › Helena Kadlcikova
Helena Kadlcikova is a self-tought artist
based in the Czech Republic. She is known by many
fans for her amazing Michael Jackson art-work and
has even gone on to meet Michael Jackson himself.
How long have you been an artist, and how did you
get into it?
First of all, when I was a teenager I've done many
sports; athletics and triathlon so I didn't have time for any artistic activity.
Just a drawing here and there.
Later, in my early twenties I started to spend more
and more time drawing and from around 1997 I started
to paint and write poetry. It was just a natural
process for me. I simply needed to express myself
creatively and I wanted to make people happy with
my art.
What brought you to incorporating
Michael Jackson into your work?
I guess if it wasn't for Michael, I would never
have gone so far with painting. In the beginning
I was just a fan and wanted to give him something
back because I felt he was giving a lot of himself
to other people. I started to do simple drawings
for him and later I skipped to painting because
drawing became too limiting for me. Nowadays I keep
on painting him among other projects because I like
the message, the dream that comes out of his music,
poetry and art and I like to contribute to it. And
still...make him happy.
Which do you feel are Michael's
best features, and why?
If we talk about Michael - the artist....it would
definitely be that he is a perfectionist. To come
as close to the perfection as possible is a must
if you want to succeed. I also think that process
of learning and growing spiritually is very important
as it definitely shows in the work of an artist.
"Invincible" album is a great example
of that. I believe it has certain diversity that
no previous album of his has and also feels more
grown. I think it needs time to come up with an
album like that. And there's one more feature that
I love about Michael... the unstoppable drive to
create... and think creatively.
Do you find that Michael and his work have influenced
your art work as a whole?
Definitely. I think if you read my previous answers
it's pretty obvious. Michael's art brings people
joy... his songs and poetry can take you places...
and my dream and hope is to bring the same message
to people with my own work. To make people happy...
that's what it's all about.
What advice can you give to those beginning in art?
Go for it... no matter what other people tell you...
if you want to do it... do it! You don't have to
go to school to be an artist... it's all about your
own style and finding an activity you like. Study
work of the greatest artists and learn from them.
That's all I can say. I guess I'm too young to give
any advice on that... wait till I'm fifty!
What are you working on now, and
what are your plans for the future?
Actually, at the moment I'm working on a painting
of/ for Michael. It's my biggest and most complex
and detailed work till now and I love to work on
that. It should be finished in about a month time
and you'll be able to see it on my website. Regarding
my other plans for future... I would definitely
love to work on some artistic project with Michael
or with anyone else whose dreams are noble and aims
are to bring joy.
